Hosts Dan & Mike Smith

My brother Mike and I launched the “Oh Brother” podcast in 2020. The show’s primary objective was to share our enthusiasm for film and cinema in an informative and entertaining way. Three years on and the show has evolved into a pop culture podcast covering movies, television, video games and more! We also enjoy interviewing artists with diverse backgrounds in film and television who work both in front of and behind the scenes. We invite you to join us each week and subscribe to the podcast so you never miss an episode. We’d love to hear from you, so email us or drop us a comment on social media or on the Oh Brother YouTube channel.

Our Story

Mike and I were raised in suburban New England and some of our earliest memories involve movies, film-making, video games and comedy. Whether it was outings to the drive-in theater with our parents, trips to the local cinema, spending hours at the arcade or shooting home movies including parodies of classic Honeymooners episodes we always shared a passion for these things. Despite our common interests, like most brothers we don’t always share the same opinions!

After relocating to Central Florida, Mike and I continued to pursue our interests in a variety of ways. Mike explored his love of acting and we both studied film in college. Mike even did a stint as a stand up comedian performing at local clubs throughout Florida. Along the way, we were always dabbling in the latest video game consoles from the early days of the Atari 2600 to Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Mike leans toward classic Role Playing Games (RPG) while my go to has always been First Person Shooter games (FPS). Looking back, selling gaming systems with accessories like imitation western style rifles perhaps wasn’t the greatest way for kids to pass the time (ahh, the 70s). We also have diverse tastes in movies ranging from foreign films, drama, noir, action/adventure and everything in between. Our interest in television/streaming is just as varied. Mike hasn’t missed an episode of The Simpsons since the Tracey Ullman show and we follow numerous episodic series including Better Call Saul, Barry, and Severance. Comedy influences are too many to name but run the gamut from George Carlin, Steve Martin and Sarah Silverman to Larry David, Garry Shandling, Carol Burnett, and Tina Fey.

We share similar interests and the same mother, but not always the same opinions. “Oh Brother!”
